đźš“ Safer Neighbourhoods Team Joins Severn Valley Railway Celebration

Bridgnorth, Shropshire — July 25, 2025

The Safer Neighbourhoods Team proudly joined the community at the Severn Valley Railway to celebrate the full reopening of the historic line following the major landslip at Mor Brook earlier this year. The event was marked by the arrival of the iconic Flying Scotsman, which hauled the first public passenger service along the restored route.

👮‍♀️ Officers from the team were on hand to engage with visitors, support public safety, and share in the excitement of this landmark occasion. Their presence reinforced the importance of community resilience and partnership, especially in the wake of the disruption caused by the landslip.

“It’s fantastic to see the line back in action and the community coming together to celebrate,” said PCSO Mandy Leek , a member of the Safer Neighbourhoods Team. “Events like this remind us how vital local heritage and teamwork are to the spirit of our towns.”

The reopening coincided with SVR’s Swingin’ Sixties celebration, marking 60 years of railway preservation. Thousands of visitors turned out to witness the Flying Scotsman’s majestic return and enjoy a weekend of vintage charm, music, and railway nostalgia.

The Safer Neighbourhoods Team continues to work closely with local partners to ensure public events are safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all.
